A pleasant culture shift this evening.  Every Wednesday night one of the nations on the course (read country) takes over and does the food and activities of the night.

Tonight we started with South Africa.  We had a Braai again - this time the chicken was cooked to perfection!  We also got introduced to pap - a kind of savory porridge I guess (it has little flavour and is likely to form the bulk of our diet on outreach).  Very nice food in all.

There was also a PowerPoint presentation and some stuff about the South African flag.  Finally there was some traditional Afrikaan dancing :-)

As you might have guessed - as every country is doing it, soon it will be time for Great Britain to take part (or, I expect, England).  So far we (David, the other Brit, and I) have considered roast dinner, cream teas, singing “Jerusalem” and being football holigans.  Any thoughts as to what we should do?  Leave a comment.

Goodnight.

NOT sing Jerusalem! What about shepherds’ (cottage) pie?

A comedy explanation of football hooligans could be entertaining! It is really intriguing how much the concept doesn’t exist in other parts of the world! And you could try being desparately polite all the time…

You dont have a hooligans bone in your body so you just could not pull it off! I reckon chicken tikka masala! Or Macaroni cheese. Not many of the Great British things are british afterall, although neither of these dishes exist outside Britain.

I think you should make everyone queue for ever different part of the meal …..thought the roastie’s might have gone cold by the time they reach them.
I’ll be praying for you this weekend too. Glad the showers are hot again though!!

So - it’s next Wednesday. We have a whole host of ideas - now it’s time to rush into action for a little last minute planning!
