It’s actually been a whole week. Weird (or crazy as some guys in London would say - or hectic as the South Africans say here).
So - what’s been going on? Well - I’ve had cold showers so far this week. I haven’t complained much, and when I did mention it to someone who had done DTS already she said that it would be good practice for outreach. Hmm.
Speaking of outreach… today I finally unravelled the outreach location selection. This Friday they will put up the locations on the board and then we have the weekend to pray about it and decide which of the locations God is calling us to go to. Excited, but not at all confident that I can go out there. Still - our local outreach starts this week, we are going to a local school to get to know the young people there.
Ken Winton, as I mentioned last time, is our speaker this week. He is passionate and has been speaking on the topic of Bridal Paradigm - in other words becoming the “Bride of Jesus Christ”. A very odd concept, but marriage very neatly sums up the relationship and is mentioned as such in some of the letters from Paul to the churches contained in the New Testament of the Bible.
Today has been a day of being pleased with myself. I had a good nights sleep, typed up all my notes (which I’ve actually been taking in the lectures) and even went for a run (albeit a short one that simply revealed that I need to get more exercise). It takes 21 days to form a change of attitude (apparently) - so can I maintain it for 21 days? We will see.
This week I’m on breakfast duty - which is simple really. Put out the cereal, bowls etc and in the morning get out milk and put up the eight flags that adorn the flagpoles outside Media Village. I’ll try and take some photos sometime and take them down to the local internet cafe to upload.
The plumbers came this afternoon and after my run I had a lovely shave and shower with nice hot water. Sorry Jude, the beard isn’t returning just yet.
Sounds more amazing (and challenging) every day!
Will be praying especially this weekend.
