Not that much room to change my mind now.  I am, of course, having last minute doubts - I have no idea what awaits me in 12 hours time.

Little pieces of paper!

My passport arrived back this morning with a study permit attached inside, allowing me to stay in South Africa to do my course.  Looking at it, I reckon it would have been a lot easier to forge it than go through the hassle of getting xrays, police clearance and all the rest (just joking).

It’s on its way

So claims the Royal Mail website. :-)
When we submitted the application the guy at the post office wrote down the number on the return Special Delivery envelope that we enclosed. We’ve been watching the status of the code closely - and finally the package has registered on the website.

I’m packed and ready to go to Cape Town. Almost.
