The week in Worcester was great. Why? Where to start…
- There were a whole bunch more people to talk to and make friends with
- There was a swimming pool on the base
- We went into a game park, saw giraffes, climbed a dam, jumped 30ft off it into the water and ate incredibly fresh watermelon
- The teaching was really good and I learned a huge amount
- It was a change, and I like change
This week we learned about the Holy Spirit (or Holy Ghost if you went / go to an old school anglican church - or like Eddie Izzard’s sketches on the above). Christians generally accept that God is a trinity. That God has three parts, but is still one. It’s a really difficult concept that no one really understands and is the cause of countless disagreements and church divisions so I’m not going to try and explain it further. Anyway, the three parts are the Father, the Son (Jesus) and the Holy Spirit. It is the last of these that we learned a lot more about last week.
Christians generally attribute the supernatural to the Holy Spirit. We believe that the Holy Spirit helps us in everyday life and miracles are attributed to the Holy Spirit. Skeptical? I think most westerners are - we’ve been taught everything revolves around science and can be explained.
I’m off to cook some more brownies now. I’m glad to be back in Kalk Bay although I’m going to miss the atmosphere of being around 100 students instead of just 22.
As they say though, a break is as good as a change. And I like change.
