This evening we will mostly be celebrating the Ugandan culture.
Annette, the resident Ugandan took us on a roller coaster ride talking about their King, their songs, their dances… how you might pay to marry her in various parts of Uganda. My favourite is that the girl would throw a javelin into the field containing your cows and her family will take all of the cows on the nearside of where the javelin lands - note that the girls are taught to hunt…
For dinner we had a Ugandan dish that was Indian in origin. They eat a lot of pap there as well - but Annette thoughtfully decided that we might have had enough of that.
Annette has been part of the African Children’s Choir and so she can sing a little. It turns out that she can also play the drums and dance as well - demonstrated tonight by sampling some simply incredible tribal dances.
Speaking of Uganda - we head into the Mbarara district for our outreach. This is pretty exciting as it’s a very fertile area with a huge amount of fruit. For dessert tonight we had pineapple and mangoes. Very tasty, although not half as tasty as we are led to believe is found in the promised land of Mbarara.
