Video production

I’m coming towards the end of the second week of the Video Production course I’ve just started.  It’s been hectic so far - really very hands on and beginning to get quite hard work.

So far we’ve had creativity and story workshops, learnt a fair amount about cameras and this week we’ve started a crash course on Final Cut Pro.  Today I found out a few things about FCP that I hadn’t worked out before.  This makes me happy.  I’ve been put into the fastest group with an experienced editor and despite having used this professional application a fair bit I’ve found out new things about even the basics.  Learning is good.

We are also watching films.  On Monday night we watched Million Dollar Baby.  A sad tale if you haven’t seen it.  We looked a lot at the imagery, metaphors and the way it was directed.  It’s very interesting to take apart films like this and talk about the little details that are meticulously placed there.

Things are going well - I’m really enjoying the course and my passion for this kind of work is increasing day by day.  Telling stories and impacting people in a positive way.  Making people think.

I know it’s wrong to be jealous, but it’s also wrong to lie so I might as well be honest about it!

this sounds fascinating and an excellent use of your talents. I don’t envy you the video producing but would have liked to be a movie star for a day! On a more serious note the possibilities for using these skills are enormous in terms of outreach etc.Keep going!
