The current project we are working on is to produce a PSA. The time scale for these projects is insane. We were given groups last week and had to come up with and develop an idea to pitch for this Wednesday. Now we have to be ready to shoot on Tuesday and edit on Wednesday.
In South Africa there is a mobile phone application called MXit which people are becoming a little bit addicted to. Much like MSN messenger it is an instant messaging application specifically designed for phones. We are trying to promote a more balanced lifestyle. I’ve spent the afternoon and evening going around schools and youth clubs trying to find talent to act in our piece. We are wanting some 14/15/16 year olds (or people that look like this) - not that difficult, except we need a couple that will kiss on camera. Trickier.
In other news - I bought a bicycle today. A guy down the road was selling it and I’ve been missing having one to get around on (beats the train, which is the slow and unreliable sole public transport here). Not being able to afford a car I figured I would take advantage of the current exchange rate and buy one.
Finally, we are in the middle of whale season here - they come and fill up the whole of False Bay. Below is a pic taken this evening from the balcony of the building. Top left a huge Southern Right Whale, bottom right a group of onlooking surfers.
