… and it was a strange feeling.
Almost like I was dreaming. Through the gloom I sensed in my half asleep state that I was in an unfamiliar room: slightly strange surroundings, surprisingly chilly, no light seeping through the gap in the curtain. All of these were a little unsettling and rooted in the fact, I slowly came to appreciate, that I was no longer in the summer of the southern hemisphere.
For all my good friends in the UK: I’m back home. For those of you that I have met in my time in South Africa: I’ve left now and gone home, I hope that I managed to find time to say goodbye to you.
Waking up this morning was a little like waking from an eleven month dream. Whilst there are some reasons why I would like it to have been a dream, there are many reasons why the last year has been an amazing life changing time.
I hope to be in London sometime soon and say hi. I’m back on my normal mobile number again if you want to text message or call me.
Today I’ve been relaxing and being a geek. I’ve extended the wireless in my parents house with another access point so that it easily covers the entire house. I will be uploading all my photos very shortly - now I’m back on high speed uncapped internet [yippee!].
Some observations:
- It’s really cold in England. I bought a new pair of gloves and scarf about an hour after I left Terminal 4.
- It’s really dark in England. Presumably why the sun has just set and when I woke this morning it was not yet light.
- The man in the moon is back.
- Orion is not.
Orion is there. To my surprise I saw Orion on Friday night at about 10pm in the South Eastern sky.
Oh. My mistake then. I didn’t actually look :-)
Welcome back! Good luck re-orientating to cold, dark England. Hope to see you soon x
