Today I met up with my friend Bekah and my friend David. I had lunch with the former whilst simultaneously giving bad directions to the pub to the latter. The former had to go before dessert could be ordered and so, in a way that one could not undertake deliberately, we left with impeccable timing; guessing we would meet David en route.
Three minutes later we did meet David as he followed our track from the pub. The bar staff helpfully informed him that a man and a woman had left the pub through the side doors at exactly the same time he came in the front door. I couldn’t help but laugh. Loudly.
I returned for the aforementioned dessert as Bekah went off to a important high level meeting. All was good, and they had David’s favourite Fullers beer.
In the afternoon we went to the Science Museum and the newly refurbished Launchpad. After regressing by half our age for a while we wandered back through the history of flight and the very dated telecommunications section. All was good.
So then, off to Notting Hill Gate for dinner. We had a couple of great burgers and some more chat before leaving, heading our separate ways at the tube and remembering we never paid our bill. David gave them a call only to discover that they had no record of our bill, took full responsbility for the mistake and simply asked us to bring our custom to them again in the future. So kids: it’s fun to steal! (just a little joke there :)
