The end times

As enthusiastic as I have been of late with regard to exploring the curious ideas of the the end times in the sense of resurrection, judgement and renewed heavens and earth; this is just a few words about my feelings this week as I prepare to end one thing and launch into another.

This friday sees the end of my stint working in arguably one of the most famous new architectural delights in London.  I have had the pleasure of sitting on one of the top floors of the Gherkin for the past eight months enjoying the dizzying views across the city and the unique way in which the weather can be seen flirting with the cityscape, windows and distant hills.  My housemate commented earlier that I’m quite proud of my office.  Frankly, yes I am.  It really is a place that I enjoy turning up to in the morning.  There is something quite stunning about the sunrise and sunset and being inside a giant gnomen whose shadow is cast across vast areas of the streets below.  Being able to entertain guests in the 40|30 bar has meant that I have been able to share the experience with some of my good friends.  Fireworks across the capital can be uniquely experienced from the 40|30 bar in November.

So am I going to miss it?  Yes.  It’ll probably stick in my mind as the greatest building I’ve ever worked in.  Only time will tell though.

Three more days to pause and admire the view.
