A month of blogging

I’ve really enjoyed the last ‘month of blogging’.  I originally set out to blog every day for lent.  In reality I managed roughly half a blog a day, which I still think is pretty good.  So what have I learned and confirmed from the experience?

Writing on a blog takes time and discipline.  With a full time job and many other busy aspects of life it is easy to not get round to it.  This last month I’ve often stayed up a little bit later than is wise on school nights in order to get a nice blog entry written (and very occasionally re-read for grammar and spelling).  An entry can often take a good hour or more to trickle through my treacle like grey matter, formulating into an idea and typing it in - ideally with some pretty pictures.

One thing that has made the entire thing significantly easier is adopting a little pet notepad as a permanent occupant of my back pocket.  Little thoughts and ideas, that would otherwise have escaped into the wild, never to be tamed again, were often jotted down on the tube, at my desk, in the pub or sitting on the loo.  This is definitely something that I would like to continue.

I also took the opportunity to rejig the categories you see to the right and re-categorise the majority of the posts I’ve written over the last couple of years - which I’ve been meaning to do for months.

To all of you who read my rambling, half formed opinions and rants that I continue to try to pass off as interesting - I must say thank you.  I’m afraid that I can’t continue posting this often and still pursue everything else I would like to, so forgive me for backing off a little.  Don’t despair though - I definitely intend to aim for more frequent posts than I have in the past.

Happy Easter!
