I’ve been a member of LoveFilm for some time now and - aside from the fact that the discs are damaged too frequently - I quite like it. My general approach so far has been to add a whole bunch of films I want to see and then browse the various lists people have made [...] I try not to blog about every film I see - on Monday night I watched Everything is Illuminated. I just wanted to talk about the ending which I found rounded the film off in an unexpected manner that was profound in some way. Richard Curtis’s film Love Actually has several interesting stories. The one that I can maybe relate to the best is that of the unrequited love between Andrew Lincoln and Keira Knightly. The odd one out, in that it has no firm good ending, is that of Laura Linney; who is dealing with her brother’s mental [...] Low budget, simple story, okay acting: once. Lovefilm delivered to me today a gem of a film. It’s an atypical boy meets girl kinda flick, a musical in fact and it goes something like this: boy is a part time vacuum repairing busker, girl is a single czech mother just about making ends meet. His [...] This evening I had the priviledge of being in the audience of the UK premiere of ‘for the BIBLE tells me so’. An evening hosted by Sir Ian McKellen along with that all too controvesial US bishop, Gene Robinson. The film was shown first, followed by a question and answer session with the two hosts [...] |
