The sun is shining, the air is beautifully warm and the sky is blue. I could and should have worn shorts this morning. The tails of my earbugs are snaking down my chest, sucking sound out of my iPhone and injecting it into my ear canals. That sound is Jónsi’s album Go and my stride [...] So it seems that I have been seriously underestimating stadium gigs as ways of enjoying the experience of music. Having pretty much exclusively gone to sub 1k capacity venues for the last 15 years it seems that stadiums are not just less personal, less intimate, but some different, something more than the parts. Apparently my [...] Reflections on the horizon The last few weeks have been positively crazy. It’s still a time of change and I’m continuing to embrace this. A few recommendations… In theatre, the 39 steps - very funny, cleverly executed and thoroughly enjoyable. In music - the new Duke Special album, I never thought this day would come, is as hopeful as [...] I try not to blog about every film I see - on Monday night I watched Everything is Illuminated. I just wanted to talk about the ending which I found rounded the film off in an unexpected manner that was profound in some way. |
