Media Village

Media Village is the YWAM base I went to in Kalk Bay near Cape Town to do a DTS and then go on to do the video production training.  Media Village, along with Media Village Productions, have now moved to a new campus in Durbanville.

What? I hear you cry…

Cape Town is in South Africa - that much you probably knew.
Kalk Bay is a small fishing town on the peninsula south of the center of Cape Town and it’s one of the most picturesque places in the area.
Media Village is a training and production facility for various different forms of media - primarily video, radio and design.
YWAM stands for Youth With A Mission - a Christian organization that aims to know God and make God known through training thousands of young people to work in hundreds of different ministries around the world.
DTS is short for Discipleship Training School. It is a six month course in “practical Christianity” - learning how to make a real difference in the world in the same way Jesus did, rather than preach death and judgment as the church so often tends to do these days.
SVP is the School of Video Production. Running for just three months it is an incredibly intense introduction to almost every area of video production with the opportunity to produce a variety of pieces.

I have to say that the year was tough and very different to how it was going to play out in my mind.
